In early April, the City of Houston adopted amendments to the Chapter 19 Floodplain Ordinance. On May 29, 2018, The City of Houston Floodplain Management Office (FMO) released Chapter 19 Floodplain Guidelines. The purpose of the Guidelines is to establish effective procedures for implementing the Ordinance.
May 29th began the 30-day public review and comment period. During this time the City of Houston will be hosting several events with public participation; please see the schedule below for dates. Any comments received will not impact the interpretation of the approved ordinance, only the review process.
Chapter 19 will become effective on September 1, 2018. All plans received prior to that date will still be reviewed by the FMO under the existing (2008) floodplain ordinance.
