PREPARATION
Learn everything you can about Jones & Carter, Inc. By becoming more knowledgeable about us you will be able to make more informed decisions about your potential career with us. A good place to start is our Web site: www.jonescarter.com. You can read about our core business units and access up-to-date listings of our current staffing needs companywide. Gather your thoughts. Be prepared to provide examples of projects you have worked on and experiences you have had during your college career. You should be able to answer the following questions about yourself:
- Why you are interested in engineering?
- What do you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?
- Where in Texas do you want to work (we have 8 locations)?
- What kind of working environment do you prefer?
- What are your career goals? (1 year, 5 years, and beyond)
- What extracurricular activities have you participated in? This will help you decide whether Jones & Carter, Inc. is the place you want to be.
Prepare questions for the interviewer to learn about the people you will be working with and specific projects. Ask about activities you will be doing every day. You should consider the following questions:
- What type of projects will I work on?
- What is the work environment?
- How often are reviews conducted?
- What type of training is provided to graduate engineers?
- Are there any company activities outside of work hours?
Jones & Carter, Inc. maintains a business professional dress code and you should plan to dress accordingly.
WHAT TO EXPECT
ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS
An on-campus interview is typically a 20-30 minute meeting with a Jones & Carter, Inc., representative at your university/college. This meeting is generally scheduled through the career services center and is an opportunity for you to learn more about us, and for us to learn about you. You should be prepared to answer questions about your college experience including activities and studies. Please being a copy of your resume and a recent transcript.
We review resumes from career fairs, on-campus interviews and those posted with your local career services center to select candidates for interviews. When applicable we will coordinate the scheduling of interviews via your career services center. For campuses where we do not have scheduled interview dates, candidates should apply online at www.jonescarterjobs.com to be considered for an opportunity to meet with us. Selected candidates will be phone screened either by a recruiter or a hiring manager.
OFFICE INTERVIEW
Our office visits are generally scheduled for two to four hours depending on the location and department(s) considering you. Our recruiters will contact you regarding the position(s) for which we would like to interview you, and work with you to select a date for you to come in. Once we have confirmed an interview date, you will receive communication from us via email confirming all arrangements. Please bring a copy of your resume and a recent transcript.
The interview team will consist of the hiring manager(s) and members of the department/team for the particular position for which you are being considered. You can also expect to meet with the recruiter to cover information such as company benefits, next steps and to answer any questions you might have regarding employment with Jones & Carter, Inc.
FOLLOW-UP
Following your time with us, the managers and department members will meet to determine the results of your interview. Within two weeks, you will receive communication (via telephone, e-mail or U.S. mail) regarding whether or not an offer will be extended to you.
