Secondary Clarifiers Rehabilitation

Jones & Carter, Inc. performed the Construction Management & Inspection for the existing wastewater treatment plant at Texas A&M University, which has two secondary clarifiers. Both clarifiers were exhibiting operational effects of wear and tear. The clarifiers were drained and Jones & Carter, Inc. inspected them for rehabilitation needs. Upon inspection they were found to have several areas in need of improvement including replacement of all rubber elements of the skimmer and wiper arms, replacement of the rubber seals on the launder trough sections, overhauling the clarifier drive units, and recoating all ferrous metal (submerged and non-submerged), as well as coating the concrete portions exposed to sunlight.

The existing fiberglass effluent weirs and scum baffle will be replaced with new ones along with some minor structural and electrical modifications to help maintain the integrity of the clarifiers.
