The Woodlands Waterway Square
Jones & Carter, Inc. provided construction management and field project representation for The Woodlands Waterway Square project, which consisted of multiple contracts to transform a drainage ditch and detention pond into an amenity and transportation corridor which runs from The Woodlands Mall to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The work consisted of excavation and bulk heading of the drainage ditch and a portion of the existing lake. A weir structure was built at the westerly terminus of the waterway to control the water level. On the north side of the Waterway, pedestrian walkways, a tramway, lighting, irrigation, and landscaping were constructed and installed providing an atmosphere similar to the San Antonio River Walk.
Jones & Carter, Inc. also provided construction management and field project representation for the Waterway Avenue bridge which crosses the waterway near the plaza area. It is the showcase of this development. The bridge is a simple culvert structure with two culverts for waterway traffic, and two culverts at a higher level for pedestrian traffic. The bridge has two towers with a steel truss connecting them. The truss is decorated with an continuously changing colored lighting system.
