Wastewater Treatment Plant - Harris County Detention Center

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Harris County own and operate a state jail, detention facility and boot camp for which J&C designed a 0.5 MGD plant. The design was unique because the jail's flow included a large amount of fixed solids that required grinding prior to treatment. The plant is an oxidation type ditch which is configured for the Orbal process by Envirex. This type of plant was chosen for its ease of operation, decreased sludge hauling and reduced electrical costs. It also provided resistance to the fluctuating influent concentrations.
