Robinson Road Paving and Drainage Improvements - City of Oak Ridge North

The City of Oak Ridge North retained the services of Jones & Carter, Inc. to evaluate several drainage alternatives to improve drainage along Robinson Road. We developed an alternative to divert storm water from the existing drainage channel (which could not be expanded cost effectively) to an adjacent outfall channel. In addition to saving the City over $3,000,000 compared to previously proposed projects, we were successful in negotiating TX DOT to participate in the project ($700,000). This project included the construction of major paving and drainage improvements through an existing single-family residential area. This project was approximately 3,400 linear feet in length and involved converting the existing two-lane asphalt street to three-lane concrete curb-and-gutter paving. This project also required coordination with Montgomery County, pipeline companies, and the railroad. This project improved drainage by lowering the 100-year water surface elevation within the City (removed 200 single-family lots out of the 100-year flood plain). The construction cost was $2,100,000.
