Jones & Carter, Inc. served as the design and construction management engineer for all three (3) phases of Water Plant No. 3. Phase 1 included a 700,000-gallon composite elevated storage tank (EST) on a new site. Single-family homes were constructed near and around the EST within the next year. Because recoating typically raises concerns from residents and can be costly, the tank bowl was sprayed with a clearcoat. The clearcoat is designed to protect the color of the logos and increase the life expectancy of the coating system, thus recoating frequency and maintenance cost is reduced.
Phase 2 included a 620,000-gallon welded steel ground storage tank, a 15,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank, three (3) 1,250-gpm booster pumps, a 2,100-gpm well, plant piping, controls, and electrical. Phase 3 included a 620,000-gallon welded steel ground storage tank, a 15,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank, two (2) 1,250-gpm booster pumps, a 600-kilowatt generator with sound attenuation and fuel containment, plant piping, controls, and electrical.
