The Woodlands Waterway, Phase I-X - The Woodlands, Texas

Costs: $20 million
Completion Date: June 2005

The Woodlands Waterway project consisted of multiple construction contracts to transform a drainage ditch and detention pond into an amenity and transportation corridor through the METRO center of the Woodlands from The Woodlands Mall to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion. The work consisted of excavation and bulk heading of the drainage ditch and a portion of the existing lake. A weir structure was built at the westerly terminus of the Waterway to control the waster level. On the north side of the Waterway, pedestrian walkways, a tramway, lighting, irrigation, and landscaping were constructed and installed providing an atmosphere similar to the San Antonio River Walk.

Jones & Carter, Inc., provided construction contract administration and field project representation. Construction contract administration included attendance of the pre-construction conference, construction submittal review and processing, monthly progress payment preparation, change order negotiations and preparation, and final project close-out documentation.

Field project representation required daily construction quality assurance duties, coordination between multiple contractors on the waterway projects and adjacent commercial site developments. Jones & Carter, Inc., attended and monitored weekly construction coordination meetings. The field project representative also verified quantities for payment each month.
