West Harris County Regional Water Authority Contract 17A

The West Harris County Regional Water Authority’s Contract 17A consisted of approximately 1.80 miles of 12-inch (12") through 36-inch (36") water transmission lines.

Jones & Carter, Inc. provided the preliminary engineering design, provided all phases of design and construction engineering, designed the interconnect to one (1) Utility District’s water plant site located along the project’s alignment, designed the electrical layout for each District connection, obtained approvals for crossings of Harris County roadways, Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) drainage channels, and several high pressure gas lines, in addition to preparing an extensive design report.

The entire length of the project ran parallel with an Exxon gas line. Approximately half of the alignment also ran parallel to a Kinder Morgan high-pressure gas line and the other half ran parallel to a CenterPoint Energy high-pressure gas line.  The risk of potentially contaminated soils was considered for the design of the waterline within this easement.
