The holiday season is the perfect time to explore Houston. From holiday beer markets to spectacular light displays and Santa sightings, the Space City has something for everyone. Our team compiled a list of holiday events to jump-start the season. Happy holidays!

Cruise the Buffalo Bayou

Join the Buffalo Bayou Partnership in celebrating the holidays. Sip hot chocolate and enjoy the company of Mr. & Mrs. Clause has you take a 45-minute pontoon cruise down the iconic bayou. The J|C team is helping the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) repair the Buffalo Bayou Park after Hurricane Harvey took its toll in 2017.


Experience the Magical Winter Lights

Take a day trip to La Marque and enjoy the fifth annual Magical Winter Lights festival. The festival features larger than life lights displays with a cultural take on traditional holiday lights. In addition to lights, the festival includes cultural performances, carnival rides and Chinese arts and crafts. Visit the festival’s site for more information.

Visit Santa at Saint Arnold

Kids of all ages are invited to take free pictures with Santa Clause at the Sant Arnold Brewery. Santa, along with Saint Arnold, will be at the beer hall until Monday, December 23rd. There will be plenty of beer for parents and root beer for the kiddos. Cameras are not provided.

When: December 21st–23rd

Play in the Snow at The Square at Memorial City  

Play in the snow every day for an hour until December 29th at The Square at Memorial City. You can also enjoy several other holiday events going on in Memorial City including Jingle & Mingle at The Square and photos with Santa at St. Nick’s Park.

Enjoy the River Oaks Christmas Lights

Bundle up and take a stroll through one of Houston’s historic neighborhoods. The homes emit a daytime glow with thousands of lights wrapped around every square inch of the yard. If you are not in the mood for walking, you can view the lights via car or horse-drawn carriage. Be sure to check out the River Oaks Country Club, Inwood Drive, Willowick and Del Monte Street.

When: Throughout the holiday season

Where: Between 610 and Kirby Drive

Our team helped the Upper Kirby Management District & the City of Houston to improve drainage and mobility along Kirby Drive.


Spend New Year’s Eve Under the Sea

Ring in the new year at the Downtown Aquarium! The family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration will include a range of activities for kids including a balloon drop, dance party and appearance by Sharkey & Nero.  Visit their website for ticket information.

The J|C team is working alongside the Downtown Redevelopment Authority to make Bagby Street pedestrian-friendly.


Visit the Christmas Village at Bayou Bend

Get in the holiday spirit at the immersive Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. Located on a 14-acres estate, the winter wonderland features thousands of lights and activities including caroling, sledding and the Cottage Shop.
