Christmas lights may very much be a modern thing, but the Old West Christmas Light Fest mixes old with the new. With more than 40 buildings in a western town, it is like traveling back in time and taking strands and strands of Christmas lights with you. The location has been used in films, music videos, documentaries, and commercials – it has been made to feel like the Old West in every way. Grab a pair of boots and spurs if you’ve got ‘em and head to Boerne for a unique way to celebrate the holidays.

Grow your Holiday Experiences at the SA Botanical Garden

While a botanical garden may not be the typical holiday outing, the San Antonio Botanical Gardens have two events that the whole family will enjoy. “Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks” combines nearly half a million LEGO bricks to create this fanciful sculpture exhibition. The Gardens are also featuring Holidays in Bloom, a naturesque stroll around the East Texas Lake beginning with a beautiful 12 foot Christmas tree. Both exhibitions are included with regular admission, so take a little more time to explore the rest of what the gardens have to offer.
