The floodplain regulations within the incorporated areas of Harris County have not yet been revised, but the City of Houston City Council is scheduled to vote on a new Floodplain Ordinance on March 21st.  We will be reporting on the status of the City Council vote and possible changes shortly after the City Council meeting.  If you would like to receive an update from the March 21st and subsequent floodplain ordinance and regulation revisions, you can subscribe to these updates on the right side of this page.  Jones|Carter is monitoring the actions of other Cities and Counties across the state as they consider floodplain regulation revisions, and we will be providing updates as these entities release information about their planned regulation revisions.

Following revisions to the City of Houston’s floodplain regulations, we will host a workshop, led by Jones|Carter’s drainage experts, to discuss the impact of the new Harris County and City of Houston floodplain regulations on both existing and future development projects.  This event will include breakout sessions for specific development project types.  The event will be by invite only and on a first-come basis.  If you are interested in reserving your spot at this event, please sign up using the form below.  If you have any specific questions regarding the implementation timing of the upcoming regulation revisions, or if you would like to meet individually to review a specific project with respect to these new floodplain regulations, please email us at
