Jones|Carter is working alongside the Midlothian Development Authority (MDA) on the design plans for the reconstruction of approximately 1.5 miles of V.V. Jones Road from State Highway 67 to Power Way. Currently a two-lane, asphalt road, once complete, the roadway will be a major arterial roadway. V. V. Jones is located on the western edge of the Railport Business Park in Midlothian.
The J|C team is developing plans to upgrade V.V. Jones into a six-lane divided arterial roadway with 120-foot right-of-way. The team is using a multi-phased approach in the design and construction of the roadway to mitigate traffic impacts in the area. Once complete, the new arterial will provide better access to the Railport Business Park.
The J|C team is also performing hydraulic studies of Soap Creek adjacent to roadway. In addition to engineering design, the team completed topographic surveys as well as right-of-way and easement acquisition.
J|C has been the engineer for the MDA since 1999. The MDA is a governing board with oversight of infrastructure funding and construction within the Midlothian Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #2.
