PROJECT OVERVIEW
Buffalo Bayou is a slow-moving river that flows across Houston. Along the river is a 160-acre park featuring 20-miles of trails, a 10-mile waterway, a dog park and more. Though the bayou is prone to flooding, it suffered an unusually large amount of damage during Hurricane Harvey.
The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) selected Jones|Carter to act as design engineer for a three-phase improvement project that involved removing existing sediment along the bayou, stabilizing slope failures and installing preventative measures to prevent future erosion. Our team performed a topographic survey and conducted research on right-of-way boundaries, existing utilities, construction site accessibility and necessary easements required for the project. We also delivered submittals and prepared a bid, which was approved by the HCFCD, the City of Houston, The Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Center Point, ATT, Harris County Urban Wildlife and the Houston Parks and Recreations Department.
