PROJECT OVERVIEW
Shepherd Drive and Durham Drive make up a two-mile corridor between IH-10 and IH-610 North in Houston, Texas. The corridor is redeveloping and is at the center of an active community where biking and walking are important. The Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (MHRA)/ TIRZ 5 has included the reconstruction of the corridor in their capital improvement plan, and they are on a mission to “push the envelope” on what a city maintained public roadway corridor can look like.
Our team has completed planning services for the MHRA and has started final design services for Phase 1. We will provide Construction Management services for the construction of Phase 1 (FY 2022) while we complete the final design of Phase 2 and then continue Construction Management services through Phase 2 (FY2023).
Our team is also working with Houston METRO to consolidate and relocate bus stop locations to minimize impacts to mobility while improving the rider experience. We are reviewing landscape options, pedestrian and bicycle paving options, and low impact development techniques to provide an inviting space for cars, buses, bicycles, and pedestrians.
