Fighting traffic in Houston can be tough, and paying a toll to sit in traffic is not fun. Before this project began, there was a consistent 2 to 3 mile slow-down northbound on the Hardy Toll Road near FM 1960 because of a lane drop, causing the lanes to merge. Thanks to our transportation department’s addition of a third lane on the Hardy Toll Road, what began as 2 lanes are now 3 lanes which added capacity for the toll road and decreased the commute times and traffic delays. The Harris County Toll Road Authority made the decision during the project to eliminate cash lanes and make the toll road strictly EZ-Tag only, which has set a precedent for the modernization of other toll roads in the Houston area and improving traffic flow throughout the city.
